Bums on seats

Project Overview
The BLICK chair is a versatile seating solution designed for both indoor and outdoor dining environments. Its stackable form and efficient use of materials make it practical and sustainable. The chair can be produced using various manufacturing methods and materials to suit different finishes and production needs. BLICK features compression moulded recycled truck tire components that form the main seat structure, while moulded clear polycarbonate legs and back parts attach to the seat, resulting in an elegant and functional design.
Challenge & Results
The project required extensive material experimentation to achieve the desired balance between durability and visual lightness. One of the main challenges was ensuring the recycled tire components could be consistently formed to precise tolerances for seamless integration with the transparent polycarbonate elements. The team also addressed the complexities of joining dissimilar materials in a way that maintained structural integrity and aesthetic clarity. The final result is a chair that demonstrates innovative use of recycled materials and advanced moulding techniques, successfully meeting both functional and environmental objectives while offering a distinctive visual identity.
