Designed as a shared-use vessel for pantry and food service, the Returnr Canister carries coffee beans, gelato, grains and grocery staples through repeated cycles of use without ever becoming disposable. The brief demanded a container tough enough for constant commercial handling, yet refined enough to sit comfortably on a customer's own shelf.

Twin-walled stainless steel was the natural material choice. It's inert and non-porous, so it won't hold onto odours, stains or bacteria the way plastic can — meaning the same canister can be reassigned to a new product without any trace of the last. It withstands thousands of wash cycles without degrading, unlike plastic, which wears, scratches and sheds microplastics over time. It's also infinitely recyclable without loss of quality, made here from over 70% recycled content, and recycling steel uses a fraction of the energy required to produce it from raw ore — a genuinely circular material, not just a durable one.

The canister's form was resolved around efficient nesting and stacking, allowing empty and full units to interlock tightly for back-of-house storage, transport and logistics — maximising density and minimising wasted space and freight. A replaceable label system lets the same vessel be relabelled and redeployed as contents change, while lids are offered in reusable silicone or recyclable moulded bagasse. The result is foodservice equipment engineered for a long, adaptable working life.
